Further to my meeting with an advisor from Bioforce:
There are 4 categories of potential careers in the humanitarian / development sector.
1. Logistics (high demand)
2. Administration (high demand)
3. Project coordination
4. Management
Working in these sectors, particularly within the humanitarian bit, requires on site, therefore leaving home for periods of at least 6 months and usually at least one year.
The other thing is you can’t obtain a position within one of these sectors without the appropriate qualifications.
This does not apply to all charity organisations or NGOs outside the humanitarian segment.
