I was originally attracted to this (through someone’s recommendation online). So had a look, participated in a few discussions (some quite extensive ones with very interesting people from around the world).

However, I also participated in one where the question was “what are you grateful for?”

I wanted to understand what that was about, and what exactly the person wanted to find out.

Turns out she wanted to find out nothing at all and was (as is often the case in online communities) preaching.

In which, one of her replies (to me) was not edited :

• I don’t choose to be offended…good question actually:>)
• I care, because I LOVE gratitude, and I LOVE sharing gratitude. The comments on this thread are like the ripple effect in a body of water, which grows….and grows….and flows….makes me smile:>)
• It’s only a good idea if one percieves it to be…..thanks for asking:>)

Obviously the “conversation” quickly turned confrontational, she (or someone in her group) got me banned and all my posts deleted then edited all her comments that responded to my (now deleted) comments (where I had quoted her and shown why I thought it was a) preaching b) arrogant c) judgemental d) wrong e) cases where she lied (proved by contradictions in different things she had said) f) most importantly : not sincere

A friend who knows about my near death experience sent me the link to Jill Bolte Taylor’s talk because he percieves similarities in our experiences. I continue to enjoy the educational presentations and insightful comments. Thank you TED for providing the opportunity to connect the world with this forum.

 

Anyway, that’s enough naming and shaming, not in the habit to do so. Just that FYI :

Strangely enough, I can’t find any traces of those emails (though I do have “copies” of extracts that I copied and pasted elsewhere. I even checked the trash which goes back to before that date, and nothing…

Anyway, not recommended, and if you would like to challenge this position, be my guest !
