If [insert whatever entity you believe in] suddenly appeared in front of you, how and/or why could you trust it? And if an angel or a god asked you to sacrifice your own child, would you do it?

I used to go to bible studies when I was a kid, one of the stories that I read captivated my imagination.

I’ve always asked myself : “what if an angel, or God himself were to appear in front of me. How could I trust it?”

To take the angel example, it could be truly an angel, or it could be a demon pretending to be an angel.

Which brings my to another question :

If someone lies to you in your every day life, it’s part of the rules of life that you know about. In fact, almost anything good or bad that someone may do to you is something that you can find out about and prepare for.

But because I don’t have a set belief structure (i.e; religious beliefs), I have no way of relating or making sense of something that’s never happened before except in stories.

You know the native americans thought christopher colombus and his friends were gods. Why? Because they were very powerful.

If God asked you to sacrifice your own son, would you do it?
